Have two sofas in the same room that are the same style and size? Want a refreshing idea for placement? Try putting them back to back in the middle of the room and create two separate smaller "rooms". But don't place identical furniture and accessories on each side. That would be too boring. Change the furniture and accessories to keep the space looking fresh and inviting and unexpected. The back to back sofas will make a huge impact and you'll have multiple uses for the room.

Try something different. Instead of the traditional sofa and coffee table in front of the fireplace, how about a small table or game table, flanked by two matching chairs. Enjoy friendly conversation while sipping coffee or lemonade. Do homework. Read your training manuals and take notes, all while enjoying a crackling fire nearby.

Have a boring hard floor surface? Need some additional pattern in the room to pick it up and take it from ordinary to "Wow!". Try painting a design straight on to the floor. Or hire an artist to do it for you. Choice of paint medium will be dictated by the type of floor you have, but it's an interesting way to take the attention away from flaws in the floor and redirect them as you choose.
